Pregnancy classes are held twice a week. You are welcome to join from 12 weeks and can safely practice until your babe arrives.
Classes are a happy mix of women at different stages of pregnancy and with varied experience of yoga. Some come from a Power Yoga practise or a different yoga journey and some are beginners. Pregnancy naturally inspires a connection to and curiosity with our bodies and yoga enhances this, taking us deeper into ourselves.
All poses are clearly demonstrated and Lulu helps with hands on adjustments. The postures are adapted for pregnancy and designed to help you feel your best as your baby grows. We also weave in poses that are useful for labour and birth so that they become familiar, comfortable and easy to use instinctively in labour.
Breath awareness is an important element of each class and we focus on variations of the breath and traditional pranayama to calm the busy mind. This equips mothers with a powerful tool to stay grounded and focused during labour. We learn how to employ the breath to release fear, tension and difficult thoughts.
Each class ends with a deep relaxation and a quiet moment to feel at peace with your growing baby, a cocoon of love and calm in our busy lives.
Pregnancy Yoga classes at The Power Yoga Company run two times a week. The vibe in the classes is upbeat, nurturing and friendly. With candles burning, music playing and lots of warmth and good humour. Many lifelong friendships begin in Yogabirth classes!
TUESDAY CLASS 14:00 – 16:00
In this lovely 2hour class, 90 minutes of yoga are followed by a 30 minute tea and discussion session. we often invite speakers such as osteopaths, breastfeeding counselors or doulas to visit and talk about various ways you can support yourself and your baby at this time. This is a unique resource and offers you the chance to explore many available options and discover the choices in pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, which are right for you. Lulu is linked into a fantastic network of practitioners in the Fulham area and can signpost you to specific professionals.
THURSDAY CLASS 18:00 – 19:00
An hour of candlelit pregnancy yoga, again weaving in skills for birth. This class is mostly attended by women coming straight from work and afterwards leave feeling revived, refreshed and relaxed.
