PRECONCEPTIONS & REVELATIONS

Preconception
I am not flexible, I can’t do yoga and I am afraid that if I can’t put my feet behind my ears I will feel out of place in a class.

Revelation
Unless you are naturally very flexible, a ballet dancer, or a gymnast, it’s very normal to not be flexible, so don’t worry if touching your toes seems impossible. The good news is that with regular practice, yoga is extremely effective at improving flexibility. Yoga is a way to make us realise that there is no such thing as being a beginner or advanced, we’re all students, working on our yoga practice. You just are where you are and it’s perfect!

Preconception
I tried a yoga class once, but it’s too slow and boring.

Revelation
Some styles of yoga are indeed slow paced, however Power Yoga is a fast, fun, and dynamic pace with endless exciting challenges.

Preconception
I’m too old to start yoga now.

Revelation
Not at all. Yoga is for anyone, young or old. The only thing to remember is to take the class at your own pace – you’ll feel younger before you know it!

Preconception
I already do a lot of exercise – work out at the gym, run, squash… I don’t need to do yoga too.

Revelation
Although many forms of exercise provide a wonderful physical workout, yoga is much more than exercise. Yoga can be used as a therapeutic system to heal injuries, improve chronic illness, and balance mental stress. Yoga can be a perfect compliment to any sport you already practice – tennis star Andy Murray, footballer Roy Keane, NBA basketball star Dwayne Wade, they all swear by it!

Preconception
Yoga is just for girls.

Revelation
There is a common misconception that yoga is for women. However, some of the greatest yogis have been men. In fact, men do tend to get instantly hooked as yoga strengthens the upper body while increasing flexibility like no other form of exercise.

Preconception
Surely yogis that are slim and slender must be on a constant diet!

Revelation
Actually, the real secret of a yogic body is called regular practice! We suggest you attend a minimum of 3 classes a week in order to experience a real change both in body and mind.

Preconception
I can’t do yoga – I’m not a vegetarian and I like to go out and party with my friends.

Revelation
No problem at all, you can still enjoy going out and be a yogi. It is possible that over time you may find yourself extending yoga into your daily life and beginning to lead healthier lifestyle, but don’t worry, there is no requirement to change.
